I could have given it 4 stars, and I was really close to doing so; only reason I didn't is because Michael Brandman made Jesse a little "sappy" and a little bit "wordier" than the "real" Jesse. The "wordier" part is when Jesse speaks to the schoolgirls during the bullying incident. The "sappy" parts are, well, if you read this book, you'll know. While I read these sections of the book, I felt the made-for-TV-movie effect instead of Robert Parker's minimalist/edgy style.
OK, got the negative stuff out of the way. The sections of the book that I didn't like were not huge. Overall, Michael Brandman was fairly faithful to the magnificent Robert Parker's Jesse Stone, Police Chief of Paradise.
