did not like it
bookshelves: gave-up, reviewed

I tried so hard with this book. I loved Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and was very interested in reading more of the cyberpunk genre. I had struggled a bit with that one, so I expected this book to be some work for me to read.

It was too much work. While the action and the characters were interesting, it was a very flat surface story. The characters are interesting because of their right now appearance and right now actions, you don't ever find out any motivations or history behind them or the context of these actions. This could be my own fault as I admittedly did not finish the book. I was halfway through and continued to find it nothing but a cerebral exercise of, "Oh, that's very interesting, I wonder why?" or "What the heck is that made up name for and what does it mean?" and those questions never being answered.

I was both disappointed in the book and myself on this one.
