** spoiler alert ** A diary of girl, who had to go into hidding because of her Jewish heritage. She was writing about everything - wartime life details (shabby and too small clothes, small amount of food, fear of discovery) and stuff that nearly every teenager went through (not perfect relations with parents which are made worse by the claustrophobic intimacy, wanting to be loved, criticism). The circumstances made her more mature than other kids her age. And the ending isn't happy - Anne dies in the concentration camp in Bergen - Belsen because of typhoid fever shortly before it was liberated in the middle of April 1945.
