One of the most stirring accounts I have ever read about World War II. Hillenbrand is a master storyteller, though I realize this is supposed to be a biography. Zamperini's death-defying resourcefulness is unlike anything I have ever read about or encountered. I only wish the United States would abide by the rules of the Geneva Convention in its handling of supposed terrorists.
