Brooklyn Wainwright is a book restorer. Her former enployer and mentor, Abraham Karastovsky, has invited her to a celebration for his latest book restoration. She has a wonderful reunion with him and agrees to meet him later in his studio to see a special book he is working on - a copy of Goethe's Faust. But that meeting never occurs because he is murdered.

And, so begins this lovely cozy mystery. It is peopled with lots of endearing characters: her parents (Deadhead fans who are still living on a commune), Guru Bob (who runs the commune), Derek (her protector), Robin (friend), Vinnie and Suzie (neighbors) and a host of others.

This is a feel-good mystery. A nice cozy story about a murder and a curse and an amateur who is determined to solve her friend's muder and live despite the curse. This book is the first in a series (A Bibliophile Mystery). I will definitely be looking for the rest.
