Sniegoski delivers another gripping story in the End of Days, fifth of the Fallen series (Fallen, Leviathan, Aerie, Reckoning, End of Days). His one-line summary of the main character gives you the idea of the plot: "An angelic prophecy said that a child of humanity and the angelic would bring forgiveness to all the angels who have fallen from the grace of God, reuniting them with Heaven."

So Aaron, the Chosen, had done his purpose, reuniting the angels fallen to earth after the Great War in Heaven. But forgiveness was not yet granted to the Angel who started the War, Lucifer the Morningstar--Aaron's father. Wait! Lucifer, in this book, is a remorseful angel, existing only to help mankind. So they all live together in a new aerie with what's left of the young nephilims. Their number was greatly decimated by The Powers, warrior angels who were sent to guard mankind from evil, but have somehow been misguided to be envious of the favored creatures of God (humans), and also began to think of the nephilim as an abomination. Now the magnificent Powers are cut off from God, but still relentless in their hunt to eliminate the Nephilim and bring the end of days.

Sniegoski's straightforward approach in storytelling makes this fast-paced and each chapter is eventful, pregnant with anxiety of impending doom. Each personality has grown deeper in character, and new ones hold their own as a deplorable divine creature, a noble nephilim, or simply a stalwart human. After the previous books, this one takes you to a deeper understanding o f responsibility, immerses you in palpable fear, and let's you experience the triumph and sublime. But it's the start of the end of days for what's left of the earth, there's still so much needed to be done- can't wait for book six!
