really liked it
bookshelves: architecture, art, world-history, philosophy

This compact volume introduces you to the letters and writings of those who helped shaped the celebrated visual arts and some of the thoughts of Europe from Michelangelo through Palladio through to Reynolds. While it is a vast sweep, it is my kind of book. Little editorial comment from the compiler. Pure 'them.' Obviously a supplemental reading book for a college course, it is nonetheless a terrific read and occasional eye opener for understanding the understanding persons at the time had of themselves. First hand throughout.
