The House of Night, by P.C. Cast is about a girl named Zoey was a normal teenage girl. She had a boy that was crazy for her and a normal school life with a family that didn’t always quite get along. Until she was marked, now she has to go to the House of Night, where she will grow into a full vampire. As she goes into the house of night she learns that it is hard to start a new life without her friends and her family and her boyfriend. She often says things like “I'm going to remember this, I told myself sternly. I'm going to remember how awful they made me feel today. So when I'm scared and alone and whatever else is going to happen to me starts to happen, I'm going to remember that nothing about be as bad as being stuck here.Nothing.” She was specially marked by the goddess nyx, but she soon learns that she isn’t the only one with special powers. Now she needs to learn more and more about herself to stop the leader of the dark daughters from misusing her powers, while dealing with her hurtful comments, like,“Nice dress Zoey. It looks just like mine. Oh, wait! It used to be mine." and other hurtful things that she says to try to get Zoey off track
I think that the author did a great job writing this story because I was never bored. It took me about 2 days to read this book because I never put it down! P.C. Cast draws you in with her interesting characters and strange concepts. I like the way that P.C. makes Zoey think and how her actions would be realistic in a very unrealistic situation. The story leads you along with Zoey and her friends antics and laughs, saying random funny things to keep the strong book light hearted.
If I were to rate this book I would give it a 10 out of 10 because there was nothing that I didn’t like about it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes sci fy, and even though it isn’t realistic, realistic fiction because it is written in a way that you can relate to. This book would be good for girls rather than guys because it is written from a girls point of view.
