Kendra and Seth's parents were going on a cruise and dropped them off at their grandparents house, but what they didn't know is that it was a magical preserve host to some dangerous creatures. It was a big house and they were put into the attic playroom to sleep. They thought it wasn't gonna be a fun trip but their grandpa gave them some clues. The clues led to a little message stuck in a journal saying "drink the milk." Their grandpa's helper, Dale, had put out a tin of "milk" and seth drank from it and all of a sudden all the butterflies and dragonflies were fairies!

Their grandpa finally told them about the preserve and also that they were the first to ever get to the milk. So he finally gave them permission to come out of the attic and play out in the yard. There is day in the year named Midsummer's Eve and that's when all the creatures run free. And that night something got in and took Dale and their grandpa. So they found a way to figure out where they were taken and found out that there was an evil being named Bahumat and Muriel went to set him free. If he was set free Fablehaven will fall and no one can do a thing about it. But they saved it and their grandpa and they lived happily ever after, until the next book.

I would rate this book a five because it is well written and let's the reader use his or her imagination and it is wild like you would've never guessed that this stuff could exist in your mind wild.

I would reccomend this book to anyone who has a crazy imagination or who just likes fantasy because you recreate the monsters in your head and think about what the estate looked like.
