As with other of Watt-Evans' books set in Ethshar, it features an unexpected hero, who has to cope with mundane issues in a magical world. The author does a fabulous job of presenting the every day "what if" issues about having magic, and this book also does not disappoint. I keep hoping I'll find another stray book by the author, but I don't think he's writing any more!

Kimz Zahour Sounds really good... the mundane in a magical world, huh.

Peter He's written many books, and is continuing to do so. I suspect his publisher tried to kill the Ethshar series and push him into writing big, dark, Robert-Jordan-like fantasy novels, but the Ethshar series managed to come back to life anyway. He published them online commercially for a while, and they did well enough that they're now back in print. His latest novel is being published online first, and I suspect that Dumary makes an appearance!
