I find that I can't rate this book. It informed me and occasionally entertained me but I can't say I enjoyed it or disliked it.

I can say that:

- walking into a supermarket now is an utterly surreal experience.
- had I read it living where I grew up or in any of the places I spent a chunk of my adult years, that I think it probably would've left me with a feeling of impotent helplessness.
- reading it while in the process of changing the way I (confirmed omnivore) and my family (vegetarian) eat was well timed and gave me additional ideas for small modifications that complement the ways we've already changed.
- I do not regret the time that I gave it.
- I remain a confirmed omnivore.
