Tahar Ben Jelloun's explanation of racism is simplified and shortsighted, and not just because he is talking to his ten-year-old daughter. Luckily the other contributors to this book seem to feel the same way and supply much better pieces that include criticism of the author's approach. William Ayers, Lisa Delpit, David Mura, and Patricia Williams are all included. David Mura's essay kind of blew my mind.
