Read in July, 2007

July selection for my SciFi Fantasy book club. This month we chose from a selection of apocalypse themes. Generally I'm not a fan, find them futile and depressing and generally I have a hard time caring for the characters since it seems they've brought the situation on themselve. But in this case, I really enjoyed the tale. I cared for the lead who seemed to be a somewhat lazy, womanizing, bird-watching batchelor from a prominent family and was impressed to see him change his ways and take charge of the situation in order to protect and care for the ones he loved. I felt the supporting characters were well developed and I honestly rooted for their sucesses and cried along with their failures. Very enjoyable read.

I'm off to stockpile coffee and chocolate right after I source out a natural supply of salt.
