I first read this shortly after it was published (1985, originally), and thought it was the most awesome thing, like evah! I was, of course, 19. I re-read it a few years back and my thoughts have moderated a bit. It doesn't seem very profound, and most of the stories have already passed into pop-culture lore (perhaps as a result of the book? I don't really know). As an account of a mega-band it is remarkably oriented towards the sensational; these days I'd like a bit more heft, and bit more integrity to an account of Zep.
