The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

It took me 3 weeks to get through the boring first 80 pages of this book. Once it picks up, it's fantastic. It gets an "almost made me vomit" award.
The only thing that doesn't translate too well is the name of some of the characters. There is a serious dude in the story named "Cinnamon," and I'm not sure if the author realized that Cinnamon was usually a pony's name, or a tranny's name.
Over all, it's entirely excellent, even though the hero seems like kind of a dufus in the beginning.
