While based on traditional sources, this isn't your typical biography of Muhammad. It differs in that Ramadan often comments on Muhammad's spiritual motivations. This is an absolutely refreshing angle. For example, the way Ramadan speaks of Muhammad's proximity to nature (eg: the cave, the desert, trees, animals, etc.) reveals the absolute necessity of observing, understanding, respecting, and appreciating nature as an avenue towards knowing God and drawing closer to Him -- before the revelation of the Qur'an, nature and its phenomenon were the "signs" (ayat if you will) that God used to manifest Himself to Muhammad. This attitude alone makes Ramadan's biography priceless.
