Maguire does fairy tale revision better than most, and this was no exception. A wonderful examination of what beauty means in our society, and how the lack of beauty is viewed. Ugly stepsisters that are all too human, a Cinderella that is somehow missing humanity, and a mother that is consumed with her place in society.

For me, the surprise narrator of this book was one of the most powerful elements. I honestly didn't see it coming.
