Here's where we get the "seven-percent solution" and where Dr. Watson gets a wife - also where the doctor's war injury migrates from his shoulder to his leg!

As with A Study in Scarlet, we get the entire story from the perpetrator himself at the very end, although Holmes had figured out all the details as he moved along the trail. In the previous novel we were taken forty years back to Utah; here we are swept back to India, the doomed rebellion, and a treasure of equally doomed jewels.
