While I'm a fan of the classics, this book was a tough read. The first 5 chapters or so were pretty exciting, and the last 2 were also fun to read (although the ending does leave something to be desired). The rest of the book is pretty tedious however. The endless descriptions of the different species of fish get old pretty quickly, and I found myself skipping entire paragraphs, and sometimes pages, so I wouldn't have to read them.

I have been told that translators have not been kind to Verne over the years, so it may be unfair to the author. I'm glad that I read the book just to say that I have, but I won't read it again.
