This mind-bender of a book was great fun. Jane, the heroine (anti-heroine?) has been incarcerated and is telling her increasingly wild story to a somewhat skeptical listener. According to Jane, she has been recruited by an organization called "Bad Monkeys" to eliminate evil by getting rid of evildoers and her arrest resulted from one of her well-meaning exploits. The listener is a bit skeptical, though, and points out some holes in Jane's story so that you're not really sure who to believe, especially as Jane's story grows increasingly fantastic. Sure enough, you're still guessing all the way up to the end.

This book was strange and might not appeal to everyone, but I found it oddly riveting despite a great deal of confusion on my part. I gave it a solid four stars and might have awarded it a full five had I understood the story better. Still, another original premise and great execution by Matt Ruff.
