really liked it
Read from May 28 to 30, 2012

A disturbingly authentic portrayal of school life. Difficult to keep track of so many people and keep an eye on those figures that matter in the present-day part of the story. I liked the way it all came together, and I liked the format of different narrators moving both parts of the story along.

Usually books written with a specific dialect, in this case Scottish, irritate me - but I didn't find that with this one. The dialect didn't seem laboured or unnatural in this case like it has in some other books. There is a glossary of terms at the back, but I found it more fun to figure out meanings for myself from the context.

I have yet to be disappointed by Christopher Brookmyre, and will continue to churn through his selection of novels.
