The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga

Summary:
The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl tells the story of two high school students. Fanboy is a geek and an obviously a fan of comic books. He has been bullied at school for years and silently accepts his daily torture by escaping into comic books. Goth Girl is a lonely and ignored girl who deals with her pain by dressing in Goth fashion and dealing harshly with people who get in her way. They meet and change the way each views and deals with their world.

Reaction:
The story started too slowly and I found it hard to get in to it. I think the author spent too much time establishing Fanboy’s love of comic books. I did enjoy Goth Girl’s sarcasm and wit. I would like to know what happened to Fanboy and Goth Girl, but I was glad to see that they opened the door for one another to come out of their inner worlds and interact with the people who care about them.
