This was a book years ago that I wanted to read and couldn't find anywhere. Found it at my local library last week and wow, I wanna know what I was thinking years ago about being all excited over this book. It's toted as being an interesting look a young Chinese girl's sexual awakening and her rebellion and love of punk rock, but I found the narrative (or rather the author as it's an autobiographical novel) to be really whiney at times. The story just wasn't as interesting as I had hoped... in fact it was quite dull. As someone who adores Wei Hui's work on sexual exploration in China, this was just a very disappointing read and I can't recommend it to those interested in East Asian literature. There's much better out there.
