This one didn't grip me as much as the previous three, but it was still quite good. This is Gabe's story and we finally find out about the mystery woman he married eight years ago.

Eight years ago, a young Skylar and Gabe met while on vacation, they fell in love and got married. What Skylar never got a chance to mention to her husband was that she was a famous model. After telling her parents about her secret nuptials, her father is less than pleased and secretly visits his new son-in-law, determined to drive him out of his daughter's life. Skylar's father employed other acts of deceit and deception to make sure the two stayed apart, and he let his daughter believe that her husband had committed suicide.

Eight years later, Skylar works with several charitable organizations but she's particularly invested in helping teenage girls who are on the fast track to nowhere good. When one of her girls, Kendra, disappears after going to a model interview, she tries to find her only to end up being kidnapped. What do you know, Daddy dearest shows up at LCR asking for help to find Skylar. Of course the perfect operative for the job is his son-in-law, Gabe.

Skylar is shocked when she sees her rescuer. The truth about her father's involvement in the separation of the couple cuts deep. For the rest of the story, Skylar and Gabe work together to try and save Kendra. Posing as a couple to try and find Kendra's captor, who is believed to run in the same circle of wealth and fame.

Their love and passion seemed to have withstood the test of time and their separation. I shared Cole's enthusiasm for watching the couple flounder while trying to figure out where they stood with each other and whether their marriage was worth saving. I enjoyed the romance aspect of this book more than the suspense. Still a good read though.
