i really liked this book! i always love quirky/dysfunctional characters, so i really enjoyed reading this story. my only gripe with the book is that i think its portrayal of race relations among the characters was painted a bit too much through rose-colored glasses. for being set at roughly the same time as "the help," this book didn't feel quite as authentic or accurate in that regard. but overall, i still really liked it.
