This book was more of an inspirational one for those who struggle with the image of wanting to look like 'the others' in the media, not so much of an autobiography about her life. Though Janet did talk about her struggles; her weight, her relationships and the choices she made that were not as well received by the majority. The book does not really deal with her life as a whole. Most of the time, Janet provides advice about weight loss and how to eat healthily (with a short “recipe book” at the end). I still enjoyed it though, it wasn’t draggy or boring though there was content that does not really apply to me. I was never really a fan of Janet’s music till I got her compilation album; Number Ones. This book did introduce me to the one and only Janet Jackson but it was more snippets than what she really went through growing up as a young girl surrounded by her brothers who were big in the music industry till the present 2011.
