I was kind of embarrassed to tell people I was reading a Total Chick Lit book called "Good In Bed." I explained myself thusly: "It's fluffy, light, fun. I read a lot of non-fiction, and I needed a break."
But really, the sign of a good book (which is a relative term, I know) is one which sucks you in, engages you in its story, makes you care about the characters, and won't leave you alone 'til you finish it. I didn't learn anything from this book - but, learning something is not the be-all, end-all of reading, unless you're in college and reading assignments. It has been so long since I let myself just be entertained by a book, and this really hit the spot.
I was thrown off by the twists it took, I must admit. A pregnancy. Huh. But I bought into it, and truly cared. And the whole screenplay, Cali thing kinda had me silently cheering.
And then, the premature labor due to bitchface there - and the walking, and the craziness, and the grime, and more walking.....more
