If you want to introduce the medium to someone new (who is not a genre person) this is the best place to start. A great anthology that covers pretty much all the styles of comic art being produced today outside of the mainstream. It also has some great work that both contextualizes comics culturally and historically. Not all the stories are jaw-dropping and some of seem to be included simply because the creator is so famous or influential (Seth, Crumb) but the mini-comics included and the Chris Ware story alone are worth the price of the volume. I was really impressed.
