I also had to read this book for my Senior Seminar in English, and I'm doing my final paper on it. It's a quick read and quite enjoyable -- I like Kincaid's conversational writing style. One must keep in mind while reading that her harsh angry tone is not a personal attack, but the emotion of years of oppression in Antigua comes through in her writing.
