bookshelves: classroom-library, dystopia, family, future
Read from September 30 to October 01, 2011

Fantastic look into the "future" where kids are taken from their families when their parents go over their spending limit, put into a workhouse to help earn back the income, and then released... right? Well, that's how it should work in this system, only the house the main character gets sent to is far from typical. He and the other Top Floor kids must use their brains to outsmart Honey Lady - Miss Smoot - from what she is doing to the kids.

I thought the book was excellent and frightening at the same time. I was instantly drawn into the world the author created and hoped we would never get there. With well developed characters and action that keeps you on the edge of your seat nearly the whole time, this is a book teens and adults alike will enjoy.
