This play contains one of the greatest opening lines in all of literature, and one of the best villains. Poor Richard III's bad reputation owes more to Shakespeare than real history (most likely), but we can't blame Shakespeare for casting Richard as a villain when the granddaughter of Richard's nemesis was on the throne.
