** spoiler alert ** This book is a super cute book to read to very early readers or even pre-readers. It is a cute story about a zookeeper locking up for the night, saying goodnight to each and every one of the animals, not realizing that they are all following along behind him. The clever monkey steals the keys from him as he says goodnight, and follows him to unlock each of his friends as the zookeeper walks by. They all parade behind to his house to get comfy and say goodnight- until the zookeeper's wife marches them all back to the zoo, not realizing that the gorilla still followed her home to snuggle into bed.
The book itself is really cute because the bright pastel cartoon pictures which tell the story even more so than the words themselves, making it engaging for the child to follow along. Little additions to the pictures make it more entertaining as well, such as the little mouse trailing along with it's banana, and all of the toys in each of the animals cages.
Overall the story is cute and simple, and the pictures are fun to look at. A good night time book to read to toddlers before bedtime.
