** spoiler alert ** I just kept saying, "No way! No way!" The protagonist didn't capture my attention because the only way I could relate to her was as a woman of a certain age. I couldn't relate to her inability to deal with her daughter's suicide. I couldn't relate to her easy acceptance that men kept falling at her feet (and not because they were drunk). Sure, it's a nice fantasy for a 50-year-old female that she's still attractive, especially to younger men, but--without even a soupcon of doubt that they like her? Especially as the plot thickens.

Frankly, Marcy starts making dumb mistakes from the very beginning. These are the kind of mistakes that if Lucille Ball had made them you'd know you were in for a good laugh and lots of 'splainin.

I will give the author props for creating a page-turner, but not for providing any substance or insight into the human condition.
