This book left me wanting more... I mean literally, I did not want it to end. I loved every word of it, I didn't skip any pages, and I read it from start to finish. This book captured me and the arrogance of Americans, the awkwardness of being poor, of being different... I don't know how to explain my feelings about this book. It broke my heart and made me laugh out loud, my feelings were as complicated as the emotions flowing in this book. Aunt Paula made me sick, but she is a symbol of how a lot of family members have the "crab in the bucket" mentality. I related to so much of this book, and I am African-American. Race is a huge part of this book, but it's not a racist book. It's a beautiful book and the writing just flows and flows.
