THE NIGHT CIRCUS, a story of a mystical circus that appears and disappears on the outskirts of exotic European cities at the turn of 1800s to 1900s, is captivating because of the setting's mystery and the beauty of the writing. As the story unfolds, two characters, Celia and Marco, play a magic game as opponents, for two opposing masters.

As I read, I enjoyed the story and the interesting setting, but I yearned for a much more definitive ending. I wanted to be hurtled toward a strong and captivating conclusion, but the resolution of the story takes quite the opposite turn, nearly vanishing itself into the mystery that surrounds the Circus.

For the magical setting and the incredibly imaginative Circus, I believe this book has literary merit and interest. Recommend for those who enjoy a light literary read, anchored by extraordinarily visual writing.
