I usually find these "point of view from a dog" books hit or miss. Sometimes they can be absolutely amazing (see Marley and Me and The Art of Racing Through the Rain) and other times, they are so cheesy that I can't even continue reading them (which explains why none come to mind right now). This book was a "hit" for me.

I usually try not to look too much at the synopsis of a book before reading it because I like not knowing what to expect so when Toby was reincarnated into Bailey, I was pretty surprised. I hadn't seen that done in a book before - which worried me. Would I have to go through multiple deaths? That's definitely my least favorite part of these animal stories. I called it correctly - and I sobbed through one of them.

I thought overall, this was a really interesting read (and definitely made me want to get a dog). Cameron does a great job exploring what a dog's purpose is and showing just how in tune to human emotions they are. I actually found most of the dog's actions to be believable and I loved the ending of the book (to me, it actually felt like a twist).

Great book - I'd recommend it to anyone who loves dogs and wants an entertaining (but poignant) read about a dog's life.

Janet Hey Kyle, if you get a dog, do your research first. It's amazing how many dogs are true to their breed. The make-up of mutts can be somewhat be predicted!
Remember things like; the bigger the dog, the bigger meals, the bigger the cleanup, if the desc says "talkative" think barks & barks, if it says independent think maybe hard to train and etc. Good luck with finding YOUR best friend.
