Imagine if Stephen King had written The Grapes of Wrath.
Russo develops a large and varied cast of complex characters, but I wish his editor had cut out the 200 pages of redundancies and over-used words. I was especially disappointed by the sensationalist "current-events" ending and the unrealistic ways the characters dealt with them.
But I swallowed my disappointment, waited five beats and died suddenly of an embolism.
