Aaaaah! Why did I wait so long to start this series?! I lovelovelove background stories, so naturally the first book explaining how Narnia is created made me love it so much more. There are very heavy religious ties in this book (certain characters meant to portray God, Adam and Eve, Satan, etc.) when Narnia is created, but for some reason that didn't bother me so much. The book is obviously written for children, so it not only reads quickly, but the pacing is excellent. Sure, it's only 200 pages, but there is neither too much nor too little of a plot, especially for an introductory story. Polly and Digory are so adorable! I'm so glad I finally started reading this series.
