Madeline's Rescue by Ludwid Bemelmans was one of my childhood favorites. It is all about a little girl named Madeline who lives in an orphanage and all the trouble she gets into. In this particular tale, she finds herself in the city of Paris with the other 11 girls in the orphanage when she is a dare devil and accidentally falls into the lake. She is stuck so many feet below and she cannot swim. Out of no where a dog comes in and saves her. The rest of the book consists of her trying to keep the dog even though she in not allowed. This book is interesting to me as a child because it was set in a different place in the world. When I was younger I thought it was so interesting that the story was set in Paris and I really wanted to learn more about these different countries. Also the pictures were interesting to me and they drew me into the book.
