This writer is very talented, maybe too talented for her own good -- as she finds writing fame very quickly (age 16), then a few years later moves alone from her family home to NYC where she gets overwhelmed and starts cutting herself and develops an eating disorder. She eventually goes to a kindly psychiatrist who valiantly tries to steer her on a better path, and when the psychiatrist dies unexpectedly, her world is shaken and she looks into his life and discovers he touched a great many people and changed a lot of lives, compelling her to write this memoir. I have to say, this was a plotline I had never encountered before. For awhile, her boyfriend was Colin Farrell, and it was pretty interesting to read about their relationship, especially since she is so brutally frank about her feelings - nothing is glossed over.
