Beautifully written, fascinating, shocking, deeply touching. Tatiana de Rosnay weaves the contemporary story of American-born journalist Julia Jarmond with Sarah Starzynski, a 10 year old French Jewish girl set during WW II. This is the first I've ever heard of the Vel' d'Hiv' round up of French Jewish people-- over 13,000 men, women and children-- by French police (not German) in the early morning hours of July 16, 1942. Zakhor, Al Tichkah. Remember. Never forget.
