recommended for: Anyone who loves Roald Dahl, memoirs, or laughing
In true Roald Dahl style this memoir is side-splittingly hilarious and irreverent. My favorite Roald Dahl quote sums it all up:
"Above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you, because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." - Roald Dahl
No one reading this memoir could think that Dahl did not find magic in every nook and cranny of his childhood. Readers will find glimpses of life that must have been inspiration for Dahl's loved children's books. The rat in the candy jar of the beaslty old lady's candy store is so reminiscent of that lovely scene in Matilda with the nasty headmistress and her pitcher of water.
Well worth the read for anyone who loves Roald Dahl, Memoirs, or a good laugh.
