This short and sweet memoir covers Steve Martin's time spent developing his career as a stand-up comic. Known now more for his films and books these days, it was nice to be reminded of his early career, which I had encountered through his raucous Saturday Night Live appearances and bizarrely hilarious comedy records that I played endlessly as a child. He does a great job succinctly explaining the hard work & dedication it takes to go from being a teenager performing magic at Knott's Berry Farm to selling out stadium size crowds as one of the most popular comedians in history. A great read for anyone who wants to understand what is really involved in making your dreams come true and also the reality of what happens when you achieve them.
