Christine's review
The main character is ALWAYS in trouble; it's like reading a James Bond novel. I got swept up by the setting and the plot right away. But, eventually I got tired trying to marry the character's retrospective narration with that of his actual actions; he didn't seem to learn from his experiences (this is a thick book). The women characters are perfunctory. Now, I'm just plodding along because I always need to know what happens.
