I love Morse, but I think this is the worse Morse novel I've read. The plot is unlikely in the extreme, and you'd think the book was written in the early 1960s, rather than 1979, given the attitudes to homosexuality and women. Not a total let down - as always it's intriguing along the way, and any Morse fan will want to read it. But definitely a relative low.
