This series is about a sick game between Heaven and Hell. Jim Heron, former military, half good half bad, is chosen both from Hell and Heaven and becomes a fallen angel charged to save seven souls. So each book is about one troubled soul who is going to be in a crossroads that will determine its turn towards good or evil. This one is about Veck, an homicide detective who is son of one of the most well known serial killers. Reilly, an internal affairs officer, is assigned to monitor him.

JR Ward delivers action, suspense and hot shimmering love stories. Characters are well drawn up, almost all of them are struggling to be worthy (even Devina in her devilish way), and they have realistic feelings and coherent behaviours. She is a very good building emotional settings (e.g. the groupies of serial killers).

Said this, I wish I have begun to read this series once all the instalments were published. At the beginning I had difficulties placing the secondary characters, because I had forgotten about them. The angst factor is very high, and it’s difficult to imagine if and how will Jim and Sissy find their own happily ever, and we will probably not find out until the seventh book, so that means probably 4 years since now.
