This will be a real short review. If you want a complete description-oriented review, others have already provided them.
I will say that I found this book to be a great disappointment. I gave it 3 stars because 2 stars for me is too low. But really, I didn't think it was completely "OK".
SPOILER: I found the torture scene near the end to be needlessly graphic and difficult to stomach. Then, I found Sookie's response to be unrealistic, both during the following battle and also as she began to recover.
The booked ended much too abruptly for me, as if Ms. Harris had a specific page count to hold to and had almost run out of space.
Additionally, I hated the deaths in the end, particularly of a female and a male. Needless actually, and knocked out two main supporting characters. SPOILER: This seemed to me to be a plot device mostly to get rid of the Amelia story line; I can't figure out why Claudine had to go.
Enough--I could criticize for a lot longer. I sincerely hope Ms Harris is not spending so much time on True Blood that the books are secondary, but that's how it strikes me. Of course, the series probably pays a lot more.....
