This would be a really good book to read to children and teach them about how people are different in many ways, but that doesn't mean you should exclude them. You should never treat someone any other way than how you would want to be treated. It's also a good book to teach children about how everyone comes from a different situation; not everyone comes from a perfect home life, and it's important not to judge a person based on their situation. And again, it has the theme of friendship that I always enjoy.
