This was an interesting historical-mystery (if I can create a new fiction description). The setting, 1950s communist Russia, was a new one for me, but I enjoyed it.

The story is about the surfacing of a child serial killer, although it isn't immediately clear why Leo Demidov is so keen on finding the killer. The author creates a suspenseful mood that keeps you mind working through all the possible explanations. The twists and unexpected connections are very well delivered.

The audio was enjoyable, as the reader provided pronunciations of names and places that I would likely have butchered if I read the text.
