On the face of it this book should be trash. It's a sci-fi book about American Football set about 600years into the future. The game is played by a variety of races but the hero of the book, a young orphan from a back-water planet is about to set the game alight.

Yes, it's not the most mind-enhancing book you'll probably ever read, but I loved it. There is some clever thought given to the problems of team dynamics and racism, which you don't expect. The sub-plots mean it's not all about football and there's a nice balance between them.

If you like NFL and Sci-fi this will definitely be of interest. If you like sports and sci-fi you can still get a kick out of it. If neither is your thing? You might still enjoy it, you never know!
